AT PROM. STUDENTS AND BUSINESSES DIDN’T KNOW WHAT THE FUTURE WAS IN OTHER DISTRICTS. HELD THEIR PROM THE VERY NEXT DAY. AND HERE IN EDMOND, PEOPLE WERE UNSURE ON IF THEY WERE GOING TO BE ABLE TO EVEN MAKE IT HAPPEN. MORE THAN 20 TORNADOES RAN THROUGH THE STATE, POSTPONING SEVERAL EVENTS AND TAKING FOUR LIVES ACROSS SOUTHERN AND EASTERN OKLAHOMA. THE DAY WAS FULL OF UNCERTAINTY, WITH MANY PREPARING FOR THE WORST. EDMOND GOT VERY LUCKY WITH THAT AND SO OBVIOUSLY WE WERE. OUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS WERE WITH THOSE THAT, YOU KNOW, BUSINESSES AND SMALL BUSINESSES THAT ARE AFFECTED BY YOU KNOW, SEVERE WEATHER THAT WE DID HAVE LAST WEEK. AND IT WAS BAD. MILLI’S TABLE IN EDMOND MADE SEVERAL FOOD ITEMS. THEY HAD TO DONATE. THAT WASN’T THE ONLY THING THEY HAD TO FIGURE OUT. THEY HAD TO SIT DOWN AND SEE IF THEY WOULD BE EVEN ABLE TO CATER EDMOND MEMORIAL’S PROM IF IT WERE RESCHEDULED. YOU HAVE TO KIND OF CHANGE YOUR MINDSET, OKAY, I’VE GOT TO SET THESE. I GOT TO KNOW, I GOT TO HAVE THIS SET AND I’VE GOT TO ADD IT IN HERE. SO YOU GOT TO HAVE TO SHUFFLE THINGS AROUND. YOU HAVE TO BE ABLE TO SHUFFLE AND AND ORGANIZE A LITTLE BIT. SO IF YOU DON’T IT GETS A LITTLE CRAZY. SHE SAYS IT WASN’T JUST GOING ACROSS HER MIND, BUT MANY LOCAL BUSINESS WORKERS LIKE HAIR AND MAKEUP AND PHOTOGRAPHERS ALL HAVING THE SAME PROBLEM. STUDENTS FROM EDMOND NORTH SAY THEY WERE UPSET WHENEVER THEY GOT THE NEWS THAT THEIR PROM WAS CANCELED, ADDING THAT SOME STUDENTS HEARD ABOUT THE DECISION AND DECIDED THEY WEREN’T GOING TO GO. SOME STUDENTS HEARING ABOUT THE CANCELLATION DURING HAIR APPOINTMENTS. I EVEN LEFT FOR MY APPOINTMENT, AND THEN MY MOM CAME IN AND SAID THAT IT WAS CANCELED. I WAS SO JUST LOUNGING AROUND IN MY ROOM, WATCHING TV, WAITING TO KNOW WHETHER WE WOULD HAVE TO GO INTO THE SHELTERS. STUDENTS FROM EDMOND MEMORIAL SAY THEY HAD TO RESCHEDULE AND PAY MORE FOR CERTAIN THINGS LIKE NAILS, BUT THAT THEIR PARENTS WERE ABLE TO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND WITH CORSAGES AFTER THEIR SET FROM LAST WEEKEND EXPIRED. SINCE THOSE EXPIRED FOR PROM, MY MOM OFFERED TO MAKE THEM BY HERSELF.
