The Clearwater Community Volunteers Center Hosts One of the Largest Regional Meetings in SCUBAnauts History

The SCUBAnauts is a nonprofit that teaches youth to improve our ocean environment through education in the marine sciences & SCUBA diving. SCUBAnauts are a group of ultra-dedicated Florida students who become top-notch scuba divers. They began their meeting with a review of the past summer’s dives at Summerland Key and coordinating on their on-going project of monitoring coastal seagrass. A short break was had before the ‘nauts’ moved onto their ranking advancements.
“The SCUBAnauts came in full force, and were able to coordinate their activities with members of the group that they don’t see often.” said Michael Soltero, Manager for the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center.
“Their organization has high priority on creating a better environment. Humanitarian and Philosopher L. Ron Hubbard once wrote, ‘Care of the Planet begins in one’s own front yard. It extends through the area one travels to get to school or work…one can do something about it.,’ which they do this every day by improving the environment we all live in – and we are happy to host groups like this in the Center.”
The venue and refreshments were provided by the Clearwater Community Volunteers Center at no cost to the SCUBAnauts to support their efforts.
