Customs officers assigned to an airport in Puerto Rico seized 28 kilos of cocaine inside two cardboard boxes that were disguises as roses.

The drug bust came during routine inspection of inbound cargo at Rafael Hernandez International Airport in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico.
The cocaine, 62 pounds in all, holds an estimated street value of $702,500.
'Criminal organizations exploit diverse means through the supply chain to conceal and enter contraband into the island,' stated Felix Cruz-Diaz, Mayaguez Port Director.
'Our officers remain vigilant to detect and remove narcotics from the streets.'

A CBP spokesperson told DailyMail the agency was not surprised with the method the drug traffickers chose in their attempt to penetrate the agency's security measures.
The CBP agent said that in the past drug smugglers had failed in their attempt to flood the Caribbean island with drugs shipped via courier services like FedEx, UPS and the US Postal Service.
The drug bust is currently being looked into by the Homeland Security Investigations, a critical investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security.
The official also said that no arrests have been announced.
