New flood warning for Arkansas River through the weekend
UPDATE 6:30 AM from 40/29 Meteorologist Laura Huckabee: With a 70% chance of showers and storms throughout the day, a bad situation could certainly get worse. The National weather Service has issued FLOOD WARNINGS throughout NWA, the River Valley, and northeastern Oklahoma. Rivers overflowing their banks could mean flooded roadways. Showers and storms will be coming to a close tonight with sunshine and drier weather headed our way by Sunday and into the first of next week -The Arkansas River near Muskogee will continue rising to near 33.0 feet by early Saturday afternoon. The river will then begin to fall but will remain above 28 feet thru Tuesday. The National Weather Service said The Illinois River near Tahlequah is expected to rise bove flood stage this evening and continue to rise to near 13.6 feet by Saturday morning. The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Sunday morning.The National Weather Service said The Poteau River near Panama will continue rising to near 29.7 feet this afternoon. The river is expected to fall below flood stage early Saturday morning.

The Arkansas River could swell even more because of rains from the latest showers and storms.
