If the current forecast comes to fruition, Tuesday morning's rain won't be going away anytime soon.

According to a hazardous weather outlook issued Tuesday by the National Weather Service in Indianapolis, strong to severe thunderstorms are expected to pound Central Indiana periodically throughout the day.

Frequent cloud-to-ground lighting, damaging winds, heavy rain and flooding are listed as primary threats, while large hail is a secondary threat.

The weather should be at its worst Tuesday afternoon and into the evening.

While exact timing of storms isn't available in the extended forecast, the National Weather Service warns that thunderstorm activity will be possible Wednesday through Monday.

"An area of low pressure will move along a cold front on Wednesday. Shower and thunderstorm activity is possible near the frontal zone," an NWS statement said. "After that, an upper trough will deepen into a low pressure system over the Great Lakes Region late in the week, resulting in periodic showers and thunderstorms throughout the forecast period."

The thunderstorms are expected to come and go, but temperatures should remain consistent. The forecast through Monday calls for daytime highs in the mid 80s and nighttime lows in the high 60s.
