England begin their World Cup campaign against Tunisia on Monday evening and manager Gareth Southgate faces several selection dilemmas ahead of the match.

Southgate is fully expected to stick with his three-man defence which will include Kyle Walker and John Stones.

The final spot is being contested by Gary Cahill and Harry Maguire and it’s expected that the Leicester City defender will edge out the Chelsea captain.

In central midfield, Jordan Henderson is set to partner Dele Alli, while Ashley Young, the oldest player in England’s squad, is expected to start on the left flank following his impressive season at Manchester United.

On the opposite wing, Tottenham’s Kieran Trippier is highly likely to start.

England’s expected XI to face Tunisia.

Despite being favourites to secure victory in their opening World Cup fixture, Southgate is wary of the threat posed by Tunisia.

‘For every opponent, we would prepare exactly the same – not to flood the players with information about the opposition,’ said the England manager.

‘I think we’ve done the same with Tunisia as we would for Brazil.

‘We’ve highlighted their style of play. We’ve highlighted the areas we feel we can exploit.

‘They are a good team. They like to play.

‘I like their coach’s ideas. They’re very organised. They like to play from the back.

‘Their organisation against Spain was excellent and this is a big test for us.’
