ON HIS FAMILY THERE, AND SPOKE WITH CENTRAL FLORIDIANS ON THE ISLAND. >> LOOK AT THIS. AND THEY TELL US WE ARE READY. WE ARE NOT READY PAUL: ED CRUZ, WHO HAS LIVED IN CENTRAL FLORIDA, IS WALKING THROUGH HIS FLOODED HOMETOWN OF GUANICA, PUERTO RICO. THE LAST TIME WE SPOKE TO ED, HIS TOWN WAS BEING DESTROYED BY EARTHQUAKES, NOW, THE DAMAGE I IS FROM TROPICAL STORM ISAIAS. >> THE POWER IS OUT, IT’S RAINING. THE WIND IS BLOWING. WE HAVE SOME WIND GUSTS OF PROBABLY LIKE 40-45 MPH. PAUL: HEADING FROM GUANICA, TO MAYAGUEZ, ON THE WEST SIDE OF THE ISLAND, WHERE MY COUSIN LIVES, WATER IS RUSHING TOWARD THE STREET, THESE PICTURES SHE TOOK SHOW THE DEVASTATION LEFT BEHIND. Tropical Storm Isaias brings destruction to Puerto Rico
Tropical Storm Isaias hit Puerto Rico on Thursday leaving behind extensive flooding and damage.Ed Cruz who has lived in Central Florida sent us video of his now flooded hometown of Guánica.The last time we spoke to him was in January when his hometown was destroyed by earthquakes.“This is misery, over misery, Cruz said. "The power is out, it's raining. The wind is blowing. We have some wind gusts of probably like 40-45 mph," he said.Perhaps some of the worst flooding so far has been found on the west side of the island, in towns like Mayagüez. Puerto Rican Government officials say the Puerto Rico National Guard has rescued at least 25 people. WESH 2 reporter Paul Rivera’s cousin sent him photos of the flooding near her home.In San Juan, Maria Isabel’s college aged children are staying with family. Isabel is trying to keep in touch from Orlando."He's like 'well mom, maybe this is the last time that we get to talk.' I'm like, why? 'Because we have no power,'" Isabel said."We're still here. We still need help. Most importantly, keep us in your prayers," Cruz said.Video from Puerto Rico shows heavy rain and strong winds from Tropical Storm Isaias battering the island. Watch the video above and see the full Tropical Storm Isaias forecast here. Isaias was centered about 85 miles southeast of Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic early Thursday afternoon. It had maximum sustained winds of 60 mph and was moving northwest at 21 mph.
