After a miserable weekend of rain, Wales is braced for another downpour.

A severe weather warning for rain has been issued for a large part of Wales for Tuesday.

According to the Met Office there are also risks of strong winds accompanying the rain in coastal areas.

The storm is said to be making its way in from the west after coming from Iceland on Monday night, and up to 40mm of rain could fall on parts of the country during Tuesday.

What is the warning for?

It is a yellow weather warning for rain.

According to the Met Office you should expect: "Rain, heavy at times, on Tuesday giving difficult driving conditions. Windy too, especially in coastal areas."

This could include:

  • Flooding of a few homes and businesses is likely;

  • Bus and train services probably affected with journey times taking longer; and

  • Spray and flooding on roads probably making journey times longer.

Where in Wales is affected?

Areas covered include Cardiff, Newport, Swansea, the South Wales Valleys, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire.
