Positive news in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma

We are sure that the island will recover quickly as the people are all being so positive and working hard so they can welcome tourists back very soon”
— Niamh McCarthy

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES, September 20, 2017 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Caribbean island of St Barts is getting ready to welcome all their visitors for the upcoming festive season. The people on the island are working effortlessly to get the island back to its former glory after hurricane Irma.
It has been two weeks since hurricane Irma passed over the Caribbean and caused extensive damage to the island of St Barts and surrounding islands. However, the people of St Barts have come together to help each other recover from the hurricane and have shown massive improvements in such little time.

The port and airport have reopened and all roads on the island are now operational. Electricity has been restored in the majority of areas on the island along with internet service being widely available. Water production is returning to normal levels with 90% of water being restored and the grocery stores Super U and AMC in St Jean have reopened.

The villa owners are still assessing the damage to the villas and hotels but they are hoping most if not all will open for reservations this holiday season. Restaurants Black Ginger, Isola, Bonito, Tamarin and Mayas have announced they will reopen in November.

We are so relieved to know our colleagues and friends on the island are safe. They really were so proactive and kept constant communication with us prior and after the hurricane which we are sure was a very stressful and frightening time for them. "We are sure that the island will recover quickly as the people are all being so positive and working hard so they can welcome tourists back very soon” said Niamh McCarthy who is the St Barts specialist for Exceptional Villas.

The collectivite’s command center is located on the upper floor at the airport and this where the leading recovery effort officials are. They can recommend what is needed and they know the best way to distribute it. The necessities such as food for infants and young children are available at the dispensary.

St Barts online have set up a gofundme page for donations from the public to help rebuild the island. 100% of the funds are going to supplies to rebuild the homes and businesses of St Barts. If you wish to donate please visit their page here.

St Barts is determined and will be back stronger than ever.
