Three Brainerd area golfers will attempt to qualify for the U.S. Open at Willinger’s Golf Club in Northfield. Bill Israelson of Staples, Kevin Cashman of Grand View Lodge and Ken Lubke of Madden’s are among 91 entrants. Israelson was qualifying medalist in 1991 and 1992.

If you steal anything from Craig Feierabend, watch out. Last evening Carl Reed saw someone stealing tools from Craig’s pickup and alerted Craig, who ran after the thief’s pickup, reached through the window and grabbed the keys. The suspect was arrested after suffering ”scrapes to his head.”

100 years ago (1914)

When the narrow gauge railway was first laid in Northeast Brainerd as a dump car line to fill where the Northeast bridge used to be, some citizens thought it was a streetcar line. Today the dinkey engines are bustling through the streets, each pushing ten cars of dirt to the fill site.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with numerous job titles since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently as Digital Editor. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work these 30+ years.
